The Healing Power of Tibetan Qigong:
Firsthand accounts of health achieved through Tibetan Qigong

A Fast, Pain Free Recovery from Surgery
When I went in for surgery, I was determined to return home from the hospital as soon as possible. With the help of Tibetan Qigong as taught by Master Zi Sheng Wang, not only was I able to return home after just one night (instead of the usual two to three). I was also able to have a pain free recovery from the eight-inch incision cut across my abdomen. If my doctor would have allowed it, I could have had outpatient surgery and returned home the same day following my hysterectomy. The nurses were incredulous when time after time I reported a zero pain level on a scale of 1 to 10. By practicing one of the mantra techniques taught by Master Wang, I achieved a calm and peaceful state where pain did not exist. I had no need to take the painkillers that are normally given to post-surgical patients. Morphine was readily available through a push button bedside contraption, but I experienced no need to employ it. Because I did not need morphine to control the pain, the side affects of this drug such as constipation and lethargy did not trouble me. I was up and walking around the hospital ward by myself the same night of my surgery. With the help of Tibetan Qigong, my recovery was rapid and I quickly resumed my normal activities.

AIDS Does Not = Death
I received my HIV diagnosis in 1990. The media had told us over and over of the impending years of suffering each of us faced leading to an untimely, agonizing death. Something inside felt that it could be different for me; that I would find a way to change that destiny. A lot has happened since then…My life is proof of the value of integrating eastern and western philosophies and medicine?I am six feet tall and was still surviving after wasting from 220 pounds to 120 pounds. I was too weak to lift my head to sip water. I had survived pancreatitis, a serious pneumonia and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was taking HIV medications and chemotherapy when I received information of a nearby workshop given by Master Zi Sheng Wang, a highly revered Qigong teacher and healer of the Nyingma lineage from Tibet?I had read about or practiced every kind of healing method I encountered that I thought could help. I knew that the Qigong of Tibet is considered to be the highest level of Kung Fu of all existing forms. When I met my teacher, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. I immediately noticed and continue to notice major improvements in my health and also my extrasensory perception. I believe anyone with a challenge such as mine can, with determination, change his or her outcome for the better. I continue to deepen my Qigong practice and am passionate to teach and share the finer details of my journey in the hope that all who suffer and are in pain may know there is help.

The Greatest Gift
When I started studying with Master Wang, I was not very sensitive to the energy. I have always been a “realist?and one who needs to know something from my own experience, not someone else’s experience or words. I have been blessed with good health, but my relationship of 18 years was in a difficult time. Despite the fact that we loved each other deeply, despite my own therapy for many years and the fact that we both work in the field of psychotherapy, the hurts, disappointments and frustrations had built up between us to such a degree that my husband felt like he did not know what else to do except possibly separate from each other. This practice and teachings brought a peace and acceptance to heart and helped me to find the right words to bridge the distance between us. It brought me a clearer perception of myself and my part in our struggle and then gave me the strength and compassion to change. Our relationship has been truly wonderful this past year. There is gentleness, a greater acceptance and support for each other. In many ways I credit this most wonderful practice of Tibetan Qigong with saving my marriage and giving me the greatest gift of my life.

A Powerful Force
In the very beginning, when I first met Master Zi Sheng Wang …we were training at the Scout House in Carmel across from the Sunset Center. We were all doing our Qigong where we were holding the energy between our hands. I had studied other types of Qigong, including Chinese modalities, and I had felt the qi before. The feeling in that Scout House was like no other I had ever felt. This was a living presence, a powerful force that I felt between my hands that day. It was all I could do to stay at peace and not yelp, I was so astounded by the intensity. Afterward, Master Wang told us that he had been standing in the back, sending us energy while we were doing the practice. He gave us a taste of what he experiences to whet our appetites to practice, practice, practice? Not long after that experience, in carrying too many heavy boxes during a move ?half my hand became paralyzed and remained so for more than a month…I was training in Tibetan Qi Gong with Master Wang …and a couple of evenings later I felt tingling in my hand. Master Wang had sent me energy!?There was more healing to be done, but at least now I could use my hand. Now I needed to continue practicing my Qigong to continue the healing.

Dramatic Healing
I caught a rare disease called Sarcoidosis that produced inflammation and extensive scarring in my lungs. I lost weight to the point that I was 35 pounds seriously underweight ?For a year and a half I coughed continuously during my waking hours? All this coughing even changed the rhythm of my heart? Then luckily I found the workshops on Tibetan Qigong practices and the healing energy sessions by Master Wang of the International Tibetan Qigong Association. This profoundly and very dramatically improved my health. My coughing decreased immediately and has been essentially eliminated for more than a year. I gained 35 pounds?I have much greater physical endurance and the capacity to sustain a high level of energy throughout the day?I hope that my lungs will continue to improve through Tibetan Qigong to the extent that I can one day enjoy a trip to the high mountains of Tibet, the source of this wonderful healing process.
